Claire Townsend is a New York City based costume designer. She holds a MA in Design for Performance from Central St Martins, London, and an BA in Costume Design from Wimbledon School of Art. Since graduating she's worked in Los Angeles and NYC where she currently resides. Recent projects include The Richard Project for AADA, Afterlife & Josephine for Chelsea Opera, and Madama Butterfly for West Bay Opera.
She currently works in costume production at the Metropolitan Opera.
With all theatre work on hiatus due to COVID, she has designed a zoom theatre piece with Letter of Marque Theatre Company, The Isle is Full of Noises, about the downtown arts scene in the 1980s and inspired by a script by Billy Martin which can be viewed online here
She is also embarking on new art projects, with Renee Berthelette, with a gallery show at First Live Studio in Bushwick, which can also be seen at an online gallery at www.AqueousIsolations.com
There will an artists talk to look at new pieces they have created from the First Live Performance at Omni Open Studios on 26th September at 5pm.
